How Howvero Researches and Updates Its Guides
Transparent overview of Howvero's editorial process—source hierarchy, update triggers, monetization boundaries, and what we will not claim.
Updated March 5, 2026 · 9 min read
Howvero exists to help with everyday problems and choices without inventing authority we do not have. This page explains how guides are produced, checked, updated, and monetized so you can judge our work on clear terms.
Who Writes Howvero
Articles are written and updated by the Howvero editorial team (howvero-editorial). We do not fabricate individual expert biographies, degrees, or lab credentials. When hands-on testing is limited, we say so and rely on verifiable manufacturer documentation, widely published standards, and first-principles reasoning you can repeat.
Source Hierarchy
We prioritize, in order:
- Primary documentation — care labels, OSHA-adjacent safety sheets where relevant, manufacturer manuals, Apple/Microsoft/Google support articles for platform steps.
- Measurable standards — IP ratings, explicit test protocols when cited by manufacturers.
- Consistent user-reported patterns — treated as anecdotal, not proof.
- Marketing materials — hypotheses only until verified.
We do not cite imaginary studies or round statistics invented for persuasion. If quantitative claims appear, they should trace to a named standard or be framed as estimates—see scoreNote fields in our internal opportunity tracking for editorial estimates.
Article Types
| Section | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Fix | Step-by-step troubleshooting and maintenance |
| Choose | Decision criteria for products and tools |
| Guides | Methods and transparency (like this page) |
Tools (calculators, finders, quizzes) support articles; they do not replace primary sources for safety-critical work.
Update Triggers
We revise content when:
- Platform or product UI changes materially (e.g., iOS settings paths)
- Readers report confusing or unsafe steps we can verify
- Our own testing contradicts earlier guidance
- Affiliate or monetization status changes requiring new disclosure
The updated date in frontmatter reflects meaningful editorial changes, not typo fixes alone.
Monetization Boundaries
Frontmatter includes monetizationIntent: none, affiliate, digital, or tool-assist.
Current site policy:
- Affiliate merchants remain disabled in configuration until programs are active and disclosed on each page.
- No fake prices, review scores, or “tested” claims without actual testing logs.
- Digital products marked “coming later” until available.
- Ads render nothing while ad slots are disabled.
See component-level disclosures inline where links may earn commission in future.
Tools and Transparency
Interactive tools use local logic with explicit formulas or scoring:
- Paint calculator — geometry and coverage math; you supply coverage rate from your paint can label.
- Gift finder — scores a static catalog; no live inventory or prices.
- Productivity quiz — additive scoring across answers; suggestions are starting points, not psychological assessments.
Analytics, when enabled via public environment flags, pushes typed events to window.dataLayer only—no tracking until configured.
Internal Quality Checks
Before publish or major update:
- Steps tested or walkthrough-verified on current OS/app versions where feasible
- Safety warnings for irreversible actions (data loss, fabric damage)
- Internal links point to live paths within our site map
- Monetization labels match page content
We maintain an opportunities list (opportunities.json) prioritizing future work with editorial score notes—not revenue guarantees.
What We Will Not Do
- Invent expert personas or credentials
- Copy competitor articles verbatim
- Hide sponsored relationships
- Recommend medical, legal, or financial actions as universal truth
- Publish comparison “winner” badges for untested hardware

Corrections
If you find an error, out-of-date screenshot path, or unsafe omission, contact paths will live on the site’s about/contact page as the site matures. We treat factual corrections as priority updates.
Summary
Howvero research is practical, sourced where possible, honest about limits, and labeled for monetization. Guides improve iteratively; transparency about that process is part of the product—not an afterthought.
